Dust off your boots, Saskatoon. The Canadian Finals Rodeo is coming to the Bridge City.

After more than four decades in Edmonton, the rodeo will be hosted in Saskatoon from 2017 to 2019. The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the City of Saskatoon. The CPRA says the rodeo fan base in Saskatchewan is an important factor in the move across the border.

The city says new accommodations, a budding food scene, and a young demographic will help the event succeed in Saskatoon. Officials from the Sasktel Centre say the venue is ready to take on the event, and the crowd.

“Saskatoon has an incredible reputation for hosting successful major national and international sporting events and we are excited about the opportunity to host the Canadian Finals Rodeo,” said Sasktel Centre’s Executive Director Scott Ford in a written news release.

More details on the 2017 Canadian Finals Rodeo are expected in coming weeks.
