Cabin prices in the Christopher Lake, Emma Lake and Candle Lake regions increased this year, according to a new 2017 Royal LePage Canadian Recreational Housing report.

An average lakefront property at several lakes near the Prince Albert National Park costs $600,000, while a non-waterfront cabin costs $250,000 on average.

“With the economy finally beginning to stabilize somewhat, many purchasers have begun to come into the market in order to take advantage of current recreational property trends, creating a lack of waterfront listings and placing an upward pressure on pricing,” Lou Doderai, a broker with Royal LePage, said in a media release.

Overall, the report found cabin sales in Saskatchewan have been flat, with fewer recreational properties being built due to weakened commodity prices.

Regina cabin prices remained unchanged over the past year. An average Regina waterfront cabin is priced at $360,000, while an inland cabin costs $130,000, according to the real estate report.

The report shows property prices in Melfort softened, with an average lakeside cabin costing $245,000 and a wood cabin costing $198,000.
