Saskatoon taxi drivers are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Iqtidar Khan, 42, a driver with Saskatoon Radio Cabs, died following a crash early Tuesday on Highway 5. The taxi driven by Khan was on its way from Saskatoon to Humboldt with two passengers when it left the highway and went into a slough.

Khan and his passengers were able to exit the vehicle and started to swim to shore. The passengers made it but the driver did not.

Police and the Humboldt Fire Department searched the slough by boat and were able to locate the body.

A manager at Saskatoon Radio Cabs says Khan was a hard-working family man who will be greatly missed.

The accident is still under investigation. Road conditions on Highway 5 at the time of the incident were icy, but police are not sure if it was a factor in the accident.
