A 13-year-old boy in Saskatoon is facing charges after he allegedly posted threats online.

Police received a report Wednesday about a physical altercation between two students at École Alvin Buckwold School on East Drive. The next day police were informed of threats directed toward people at the school posted to social media. The threats appeared to be made by one of the boys involved in the altercation.

Police arrested the boy at his residence and charged him with uttering threats.

He is expected to appear in court Friday evening.

A spokesperson for the Saskatoon Police Service said police are working closely with the school as they investigate the incident.

Alvin Buckwold principal Angela Banda sent a letter to parents Friday informing them of the incident.

“We want to reassure you that students and staff members are safe at the school,” the letter read. “We appreciate the assistance and support of the Saskatoon Police in handling this situation.”
