A man from Hague, Sask., is facing an attempted murder charge after police responded to a report of an injured woman Monday morning.

Officers were called to a home in the community, north of Saskatoon, around 8:30 a.m. A woman and man were sitting outside the residence when police arrived, RCMP said in a media release.

Police do not yet know the extent of the woman’s injuries, but said she was taken to hospital. The 67-year-old man was arrested without incident.

The two are known to each other, RCMP said.

The man has since been charged with attempted murder and possessing a weapon — a knife — for a dangerous purpose.

His first court appearance was set for Tuesday morning.
