An assault charge has been dropped against a man whose family dog was fatally shot by his neighbour in the spring of 2013.

Michael Price was charged with assaulting his neighbour, Eugene Krawchuk, after Krawchuk shot and killed the Price family's St. Bernard dog. The shooting occurred on Krawchuk's property near St. Denis, northeast of Saskatoon.

The charges were withdrawn earlier this week after Price completed mediation and wrote a letter to Krawchuk, taking responsibility for his actions.

Krawchuk was found guilty of shooting a dog without lawful excuse and sentenced to one year probation after a trial last year.
