Saskatoon firefighters were kept busy with two blazes in the city on Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to a home under renovation at 228 Avenue J south just before 6:00. Black smoke could be seen in the sky for blocks. When crews arrived, the house was fully involved and power lines nearby were arcing. Crews evacuated the home next door as a precaution.

The blaze was brought under control in about half an hour, but crews remained on scene until 7:40 to put out spot fires. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

Earlier Monday morning, at 3:45, firefighters were called to a garage at a home at 321 Avenue E south. Crews attended another fire at the same garage on July 5.

Investigators have determined that both fires are suspicious. The damage to the garage is minimal. Damage to the house is pegged at $75,000.
