Final approval has been given to a planned $53-million expansion project at the Saskatoon airport.
The airport authority's board of directors gave formal approval to the project after seeing final design concepts.
Details of the project were announced earlier this year.
The expansion will nearly double the size of the existing terminal. Most departure gates will be moved to the second floor and there will be increased seating for passengers waiting to board, plus more restaurants and stores.
Construction is scheduled to begin early next year with completion set for the summer of 2014.
Saskatoon airport workers could be on strike as early as March 16.
