An apartment building in Saskatoon was evacuated after a dryer in the building caught fire.

The Saskatoon Fire Department said at around 4 p.m. on Sunday, they received several 911 calls that an apartment at 606 Appleby Drive was filled with smoke.

Firefighters found smoke at the front door and the dryer in the basement was engulfed in flames, the fire department said in a media release.

Fire fighters were able to get the blaze under control. No one was inside the building and there were no injuries.

An investigator has determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. Damage is estimated to be $4,000.
