An Alberta man charged in relation to Prince Albert’s first homicide of the year is now in custody in Saskatchewan.

Orren Johnson, 25, is charged with first-degree murder and break and enter in connection to the death of 17-year-old Clayton James Bear.

Bear was shot in the early morning hours of April 14 at a home on the 500 block of 27th Street East. He died in hospital.

Johnson was being held in Alberta on unrelated charges before a warrant was issued May 14 for his arrest. He was transferred to Prince Albert to make his first court appearance Friday.

Twenty-year-old Jordan Christopher Herron was arrested two weeks ago in connection with Bear’s death. Herron also faces charges of first-degree murder and break and enter.

Herron appeared in court May 14. His case was adjourned until June 17.
