Three dozen firefighters sent to help fight wildfires in B.C. are back in Saskatchewan.

The 36 landed at the Saskatoon airport Thursday morning after just over two weeks in British Columbia. The Saskatchewan crews were sent to B.C. on July 11 to help manage the fires.

“We’re always happy to go help another province when things aren’t busy here in Saskatchewan. We’re more than happy to go elsewhere. That’s what we do,” Bud Sabean, a forest protection officer, said.

Fifty-four firefighters from Saskatchewan are still in B.C., and crews from Alberta and Australia recently joined the fight.

Saskatchewan has also loaned four air tankers and two Bird Dog aircraft, along with support staff, to help fight fire in Montana.
